Splish, Splash Your Way to Sea World
December 11, 2009 by admin
When you go to Sea World you have got to see the killer whales perform.
THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW
At the beginning of each performance the killer whale trainers introduce all of the killer whales, and tell the story of the boy who had a dream to become a killer whale trainer and now works as a killer whale trainer at Sea World. They even make you do a motion! When you do the motion you have to make an L with both of your hands and then join them together. Then wave them up and down and say… “SHAMU! SHAMU!” And then all of the killer whales come swimming out and they start the show.
TRICKS
During the show as you probably have already guessed the killer whales do lots of tricks or what the trainers call behaviors such as… the whales swim underwater with the trainer and when the whale comes up the trainer is standing on the killer whale’s nose! Another trick they do is the trainer is surfing on the whale’s back! And the biggest trick at Sea World is when the trainers warn you about the killer whales splashing you with their tail and then the whales swims up to the benches and splashes you!
FUN FACTS
Did you know that female killer whales can live up to about 60 to 80 years and male killer whales live up to 50 to 60 years? Did you also know male killer whales weigh between 8,000 and 12,000 pounds and females killer whales weigh between 3,000 and 8,000 pounds? All killer whales eat 3 or 4% of their body weight each day! And guess what? All killer whales can swim up to 30 miles per hour! Killer whales have 40 to 56 teeth.
So remember when you go to Sea World, go straight to the killer whale show.
